Het Geluid Van (‘The Sound Of’) are site specific performances, inspired by the original identity, sounds and function of abandoned buildings at places throughout the Netherlands. BOT tells the story of industrial heritage buildings by making a musical theatre performance on site.
Since 2011, BOT and production house Oost-Nederland (ON), generated a series of 13 projects on site, each of them starting from scratch, every episode to be played in a unique series on the very same spot wich is the muze of the story to be told.
At every building BOT made a personal blend of stories and impressions of the venue and it’s past. Using specific matter such as old machinery, specific stories and live memories, yet as well their own artistic impression of the building, caught in songs and visuals in order to find the essence of the actual spot. The series resulted in over 130 performances, creating a unique way for thousands of visitors to relive special locations in the Netherlands, from grain silo to brickworks factory, a massive power plant and basilica.
